Medusa the Gorgon, born on January 14, 1933, in ancient Greece, returned to the embrace of the eternal on June 11, 2006. Daughter of Phorcys and Ceto, Medusa's life unfolded like a timeless tale, woven with both myth and modernity. Though her journey originated in the realms of myth, Medusa carved a unique path through the world with her entrepreneurial spirit. She was the visionary behind Aunty Em's Garden Gnome Emporium, a charming business where she masterfully crafted and sold garden statues. Her creative talents and business acumen turned her emporium into a beloved fixture, known for its enchanting sculptures. Despite the challenges she faced, Medusa found love with Poseidon, the god of the sea. Their union, however, was not without its trials. The goddess Athena, discovering their tryst in her sacred temple, transformed Medusa into a gorgon, along with her sisters, Stheno and Euryale. This transformation, though daunting, did not deter Medusa from living a life imbued with purpose and passion. Medusa's hobbies reflected her complex nature. She delighted in the art of luring travelers to her shop, where they would inadvertently become part of her collection of beautiful statues. This hobby, though unconventional, showcased her unique ability to intertwine her mythical past with her present reality. Medusa was not predeceased by any family members, leaving behind a legacy unmarred by the loss of kin. Her life took a tragic turn when she opened her heart and home to three children, one being the daughter of an enemy and another the son of an ex. In a moment of revelation, the children discovered her true identity and, in a bid to protect themselves, ended her life. A service to celebrate Medusa's remarkable life will be held on June 18, 2006, at 4:30 p.m. at the very place she poured her heart into—Aunty Em's Garden Gnome Emporium, located off the main highway in Leeds Point, Southern New Jersey. Friends, family, and admirers are invited to gather in this special place to honor the life of a woman who seamlessly wove the threads of mythology and reality. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Medusa's memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice. Through this act of kindness, her legacy of creativity and resilience will continue to touch lives, just as she did during her extraordinary journey.
