It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of McKinlee Brooke Friend, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, who departed this world peacefully at her residence on April 22, 2026. McKinlee was born on June 26, 2007, in Pikeville, Kentucky, and in her brief 18 years, she touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. McKinlee was the cherished daughter of Kelsey Friend and LaTasha Friend, who nurtured her with love, guidance, and unwavering support. She shared a unique and close bond with her sister Karleigh and brother Konner, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. McKinlee’s family was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a beacon of light and laughter to them. In 2025, McKinlee graduated from Shelby Valley High School, where she was known not only for her academic diligence but also for her vibrant spirit and kind heart. Her classmates and teachers remember her as a young woman with an infectious smile and a genuine desire to uplift those around her. McKinlee's passion for life was evident in everything she did, and she approached each day with enthusiasm and grace. Though her time with us was far too short, McKinlee's legacy is one of compassion, kindness, and love. Her gentle soul and warm presence left an indelible mark on all who encountered her. Whether she was volunteering in her community, spending time with family and friends, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, McKinlee embraced life with open arms and an open heart. A Service of Remembrance will be held to honor McKinlee's beautiful life on April 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, located in Dorton, Kentucky. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by McKinlee are invited to gather in celebration of a life well-lived and to share in the love and memories she leaves behind. As we say goodbye to McKinlee, let us remember her for the light she brought into our lives and the joy she spread wherever she went. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in McKinlee's memory to a local charity of your choice, continuing her legacy of helping others and spreading kindness.
