Maxine Perry Goodman

Maxine Perry Goodman, a cherished soul whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on September 5, 1932, in the gentle hills of Henry County, Kentucky, Maxine was a beacon of love and grace throughout her life. The daughter of James and Beatrice Perry, Maxine was the beloved sister of Wilma Lee Perry Armstrong, Dorothy Perry Long, Steven Perry, and Joyce Radcliff. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Wilma, Dorothy, and Steven, her devoted husband, Robert Joseph Goodman, her cherished daughter, Brenda Laine Goodman, and her grandson, Nathan Goodman. Maxine was a 1951 graduate of Bagdad High School. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Louisville, where she began working at the Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company. It was there she met Robert, the love of her life, embarking on a journey of love and laughter that spanned an incredible 72 years. Together, they built a family and a life filled with joy and devotion. Maxine's life was rich in love, especially for her children: Michael J. Goodman, Joy Lehman (Chuck), Mark J. Goodman (Danielle), Leigh Ann Goodman, and Lori Lovelace. Her legacy of warmth and generosity extends to her grandchildren, Christopher, Miranda, Mallory, Tiffany, Brittany, and Mason, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her spirit of kindness. After dedicating herself to raising her family, Maxine returned to the workforce with the U.S. Census Bureau's National Processing Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where she continued to touch lives with her steadfast commitment and gentle spirit. A woman of vibrant interests, Maxine's love for gardening and interior design was evident in the beautiful spaces she created, both in her home and in her garden. Her eye for beauty was only surpassed by her heart for people. Maxine had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued, ensuring they were always fed, comforted, and loved. Maxine's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Norton's Brownsboro Hospital for their compassionate care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Maxine's memory to make donations to a charity of their choice. Maxine Perry Goodman lived a life of selflessness, love, and unwavering kindness. Her legacy is one of family, friendship, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
