March 7, 2026 — March 9, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Maxine Ellsworth Knapp on March 9, 2026, just two days after her birth on March 7, in Mesa, Arizona. Though her time with us was far too brief, Maxine was enveloped in the warmth and love of her cherished family at home. Born to Hugh and Pearl Ellsworth, Maxine was the youngest light in the Ellsworth family. Preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brother Monte Ellsworth, sister Barbara Robinson, and her precious granddaughter Courtney Baker, Maxine's spirit remains intertwined with those who paved the way before her. Maxine's journey in life was marked by her commitment to education and her unwavering dedication to helping others. A proud graduate of Chandler High School and Prescott College, she went on to become an Arizona State Certified Counselor. Her career was defined by her compassionate focus on serving individuals grappling with addiction and mental health issues, offering them hope and guidance even in their darkest hours. Yet, above all, Maxine cherished her roles as a mother and grandmother, considering them her greatest achievements and sources of joy. In her personal life, Maxine found solace and inspiration in the arts. She had a passion for oil painting, particularly enjoying the creative freedom of oil painting pours, where her imagination knew no bounds. As time went on, she treasured her quiet moments, often spent reading and keeping up with family and friends through social media, ensuring her connections with loved ones remained strong and vibrant. Maxine will be remembered for her infectious humor and love for laughter. Her ability to find light in the darkest of times brought joy to all who knew her. Her kindness, empathy, and unwavering support left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to call her a friend or family member. Maxine's legacy is one of love, laughter, and compassion. Though her time with us was short, her impact is everlasting, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we celebrate her life, we find comfort in the knowledge that her spirit lives on in our memories and the laughter she inspired. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Maxine's name to organizations dedicated to mental health and addiction support, continuing her life's work of helping others.
