Max Lynn Bunnell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 15, 1945, in Yakima, Washington, Max was the cherished son of Marion and Ruth Mae Bunnell. Max's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and passion. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1964 and pursued his love for mechanics by earning a certificate in Automotive Technology from Perry Tech. His commitment to service was evident early on, as he joined the United States Air Force in 1966. Serving until 1969, Max reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. His service took him to distant lands, including Okinawa, South Korea, the Philippines, and Vietnam, leaving an indelible mark on his character and spirit. In 1983, Max married the love of his life, Reva Blome. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter, celebrating 43 beautiful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Melissa and Michael, and three treasured grandchildren, Cody, Kendal, and Corbin. Although predeceased by his parents and his grandson Cody, Max’s legacy of love and kindness lives on in his surviving family members. Max's career was as vibrant as his personal life. After his military service, he joined Local 598, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1999. His professional life was marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence, a value he carried into his personal pursuits. A member of the United Association of Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 598 for 50 years, Max was also actively involved in his community as a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, the Jeeping Nomads, and the Vintiques Car Club. His hobbies reflected his zest for life and adventure. From his youthful days on ski patrol at White Pass to his later years spent hunting upland birds and restoring vintage cars, Max embraced each moment with enthusiasm. His restorations, a 1938 Chevy Coupe and a 1947 Ford Super Deluxe, were symbols of his patience and skill, admired by all who knew him. Max is survived by his devoted wife Reva; his children, Melissa and Michael; his grandchildren, Kendal and Corbin; his sister, Joyce Reinhart; and his great-grandchildren, who will carry his spirit forward. His warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and community, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
