Mauricio Lazalde
September 22, 1963 — April 8, 2026
Mauricio Lazalde, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at the age of 62, at Baylor Scott & White Lake Point Hospital. He courageously battled stage 4 lung cancer and complicated pneumonia, displaying the same strength and determination that characterized his entire life.
Born on September 22, 1963, in Sain Alto Zacatecas Mexico, Mauricio was the cherished son of Gloria Lazalde Argumedo and Juan Lazalde Garcia, who preceded him in death. He is also reunited with his dear brother, Dario Lazalde. Mauricio's legacy of love and laughter lives on through his devoted wife of 41 years, Susan Lazalde; his children, Mauricio Lazalde Jr. (Claudia Lazalde), Marvin Patrick Lazalde, and Brittney Anmarie Garcia (Christopher Garcia); and his adored grandchildren, Mauricio Trey Lazalde, Jay Levi Lazalde, and Zoe Camila Lazalde.
Mauricio dedicated his career to serving as a wastewater treatment operator for the North Texas Municipal Water District. His work ethic and dedication were unmatched, and he continued to work diligently until his health no longer allowed. Just before his passing, he reached the milestone of retirement, a testament to his unwavering commitment.
Known for his vibrant personality, Mauricio was truly the life of every gathering. His infectious smile and sense of humor had the magical ability to brighten anyone's day. Whether he was making a party out of a simple gathering or sharing a cold beer and a cigarette with friends, Mauricio lived life fully and on his own terms. He cherished time spent with family, especially his grandchildren, and was a constant source of joy and love.
Mauricio had a deep passion for music and found solace in the melodies that filled his home. He enjoyed training horses, working on the land, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, and shooting guns. Despite the miles that separated them, he maintained close connections with his siblings—Martin (Rosa), Jose Guadalupe (Maria), Eligio (Lupe), Soledad (Carlos), Blanca, Rosa Alicia, Yolanda (Alan), Lupe, and Jorge—through regular phone calls filled with updates and laughter.
A service to honor and celebrate Mauricio's incredible life will be held on May 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Rest Haven Funeral Homes Rockwall Chapel, located at 2500 State Highway 66 East Rockwall, TX 75087. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a celebration of life reception at the home he shared with Susan at 104 Universal Dr, Fate, TX 75189. The family welcomes everyone to join them for mariachis, a balloon release, food, drinks, and Mauricio's favorite music, providing a joyful space for grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews to celebrate his memory.
Mauricio Lazalde's life was one of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will continue to inspire all who knew him. As we gather to celebrate him, we remember his remarkable spirit and the profound impact he made on our lives. His memory will be forever cherished, and his presence deeply missed.
