Maurice Sinois

February 2, 1940 — March 5, 2026

Maurice Sinois, affectionately known as "Papi Mo," passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer compounded by GI complications. Born on February 2, 1940, in the vibrant heart of Haiti, Maurice's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to family and community. Maurice was a man whose life was defined by service and generosity. He dedicated 20 years to serving his country in the military, where his leadership and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him. After retiring as a Justice of the Peace, a role in which he skillfully balanced justice with compassion, Maurice spent his days traveling from city to city, visiting his beloved children and grandchildren, and sharing the wisdom he had accumulated over the years. Maurice was blessed with a loving family. He is survived by his cherished wife, Jane Eunice, with whom he shared 40 blissful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rich in love and mutual respect, creating a family that would become Maurice's proudest legacy. Maurice's spirit lives on in his children—Josette Augustin and her family, Paul Sinois and his family, and Jean Sinois and his family. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, whom he adored and who were, in turn, deeply enriched by his presence in their lives. A man of many stories and even more kindnesses, Maurice was known for his passion for engaging with others. He had a gift for storytelling, and his tales—filled with wisdom, humor, and life lessons—were a joy to all who were fortunate enough to hear them. Maurice's hobbies included long, contemplative walks and, in his quieter moments, smoking—a pastime he enjoyed as he reflected on a life well-lived. Maurice's warmth and generosity of spirit touched countless lives. He gave freely of himself, his time, and his heart, with kindness that drew people to him and left indelible marks on those he met. His ability to connect with people and his genuine interest in their stories made every interaction with him a cherished experience. Friends, family, and all whose lives he touched are invited to celebrate Maurice's life at a service on April 4, 2026, at 10:51 a.m. at Eglise de Dieu, located at 54 rue becassine. In this sacred space, we will gather to honor a remarkable man who lived with purpose and loved without reservation. Maurice Sinois's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and unwavering kindness. As we say goodbye to him, we carry his legacy forward, inspired by his example to live with the same grace and generosity that defined his days. Rest in peace, beloved Papi Mo. You are dearly missed and forever cherished.
