Maurice Edwin Schwartz

Maurice Edwin Schwartz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on December 26, 1940, in Spencerville, Ohio, Maurice was the cherished son of the late Virgil Robert Schwartz and Martha Helen Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jim and Larry Schwartz, and his beloved wife, Phyllis, with whom he shared many wonderful years of marriage. Maurice's journey began in the close-knit community of Spencerville, where he graduated from Spencerville High School. He carried the values of hard work and integrity learned in his hometown into his professional life, where he worked with dedication and skill. Maurice was an avid outdoorsman, with a profound love for hunting and the tranquility of nature. His passion for the great outdoors was a testament to his adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for the world around him. Maurice touched the lives of many. His legacy is carried on by his children, Steven Schwartz (Jenny), Melanie Ann Heitzman (Andy), and Barbara Fett (Greg). Maurice was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Stephanie Langhals (Joe), Megan Martin (Sean), Sommer Gorman (Patrick), Miranda Williams (Chris), Audrey Dane (Trevor), and Logan, and five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Reagan, Heidi, Levi, and Jude. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Schwartz. A service to celebrate Maurice's remarkable life will be held at Weber Funeral Home, located at 1840 E 5th St, Delphos, Ohio 45833. The family invites all those who knew and loved Maurice to join them in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Maurice's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the giving spirit that defined his life.
