Maureen T Murphy
February 24, 1947 — June 26, 2026
It is with profound sorrow and deep love that we announce the passing of Maureen T. Murphy, who departed this world peacefully on June 26, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by her family and the compassionate care of Oakwood Assisted Living & Rehabilitation Center. Maureen was born on February 24, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Raymond and Maura Murphy.
Maureen embraced life with a gentle spirit and an unwavering commitment to caring for others. She dedicated her life to nursing, a career that allowed her to touch countless lives with her healing hands and nurturing heart. A graduate of the Women's Medical College of Nursing, Maureen worked tirelessly as an Emergency Room Nurse, Intensive Care Unit Nurse, and ultimately as a Dialysis Nurse in various hospitals throughout Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Her compassion extended beyond her professional life, as she was a loving mother to her sons, Paulo Matthew Murphy and Daniel Cody Murphy, who survive her. Maureen was predeceased by her beloved son, David Murphy, and cherished brothers, Timothy, Robert, and John Murphy. Her surviving siblings, Raymond, Fran, Margret Meyers, Gerri Forney, Kathy McCauley, and Michael Murphy, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and close friends, continue to hold her memory dear.
Maureen's life was a testament to love and selflessness. Known for her big heart and warmth, she had an extraordinary ability to connect with others, often brightening the days of those around her with her kind smile and unique sense of humor. Her love knew no bounds, as evidenced by her decision to adopt her three sons, pouring into them the same compassion and care she offered to all.
In her leisure, Maureen cherished moments spent with her sons on trips to Disney World and the beach, where their laughter and joy created memories that will endure forever. She found solace and strength in reading the Bible, a testament to her enduring faith and belief in eternal life. Her favorite verse, John 3:16, embodies the hope and love she carried in her heart: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." May she now find her eternal life in heaven with Jesus, embraced by everlasting peace.
A celebration of Maureen's life will be held on June 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Davisville Church, located at 325 Street Road, Southampton. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to the service of others.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff, social workers, and all the dedicated team members at Oakwood Assisted Living & Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care during Maureen's final days.
