February 6, 1934 — September 17, 2026

Maude Louise Rutledge, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at Hanceville Nursing Home. Born on February 6, 1934, in the heart of Alabama, Maude was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her. Maude was the cherished daughter of the late Vance Deason and Ruby Byrd Deason. Her early years were filled with the joys and challenges of growing up in a close-knit family, alongside her siblings, in a community that valued hard work and compassion. She carried these values throughout her life, leaving a legacy of kindness and resilience. In her journey through life, Maude was blessed with a loving family of her own. She shared a beautiful marriage with her late husband, Charles Rutledge, whose memory she lovingly cherished. Together, they raised a remarkable family that would grow to include 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren—each of whom Maude adored and who brought her immeasurable joy. Maude was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Charles, her beloved children Donn Rutledge and Susan Michael, her son-in-law Jerry Collins, her sister Carolyn Stimus, and her brother Vance Deason Jr. Despite these profound losses, Maude’s spirit remained unbroken, and she found solace in the love of her surviving family members. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her children: Tony Rutledge and his wife Cheryl, Cathy Collins, David Rutledge and his wife Summer, Patti Wilson and her husband David, and Beth Glasscock and her husband Michael. She is also survived by her dear sisters, MaryAnn Deason and Agnes O'Sullivan and her husband John, her sister-in-law Marie Key, and her son-in-law Terry Michael. Maude was a woman of gentle strength and enduring faith. She found beauty in the simple things and taught those around her to appreciate life’s precious moments. Her home was a place of laughter and love, welcoming all with open arms and a warm heart. Her family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hanceville Nursing Home for their compassionate care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Maude’s memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice, continuing her legacy of generosity and kindness. Maude Louise Rutledge will be deeply missed, but her love will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched. Her legacy of compassion and family devotion will be cherished forever.
