Matthew "Matt" Patrick Lyons

November 22, 1960 — November 3, 2026

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Matthew "Matt" Patrick Lyons, who left this world peacefully at home, with his beloved wife Donna by his side, on November 3, 2026. Born on November 22, 1960, in St. Luke, Fort Thomas, Matt was the cherished son of the late Bettie and Barry Lyons, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life. Matt leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, most notably to his wife, Donna, with whom he shared an extraordinary journey. Their love story, rekindled in April of 2019, was the culmination of over 33 years of friendship, co-parenting, and partnership. Together, they raised two remarkable daughters, Felicia, who serves with distinction in the United States National Guard, and Dominique (Brantley) of North Carolina, both of whom were his pride and joy. A graduate of Campbell County High School, Class of 1979, Matt found his calling as a commercial electrician, working alongside his father and brother until an accident in 2015 led to his early retirement. Nonetheless, Matt remained a "jack of all trades," always finding something new to explore or a project to undertake. His passion for collecting unique souvenirs and antiques filled his home with cherished memories and stories from his travels, each piece a testament to his adventurous spirit. Matt was known for his warm heart and welcoming presence. Those fortunate enough to know him were touched by his quick wit, compassionate nature, and generous spirit. He had an uncanny ability to transform everyday moments into cherished memories, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those around him. His friends and family will forever treasure the deep love he poured into his relationships, a legacy that will continue to inspire and comfort. Matt is survived by his siblings, Tom Lyons (Debi), Tracey Sebastian (Charlie), Mick Lyons (Georgett), and Mary Negich (Pat), and numerous friends who held a special place in his heart. Though preceded in death by his parents, Barry and Bettie, Matt's life is a testament to the enduring values they instilled in him. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their continuous prayers and spiritual support during this time. Special gratitude goes to St. Elizabeth hospice and Matt's caregivers for their unwavering devotion and care. In keeping with his generous nature, Matt has chosen to donate his body for research at the University of Cincinnati, ensuring his legacy of helping others continues. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matt's memory to the American Cancer Society, National Home Office, located in Atlanta, GA, USA. A memorial service to honor Matt's life will be announced at a future date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the remarkable man he was and the beautiful life he led.
