In Loving Memory of Matthew Dawes It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew Dawes, a remarkable young man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Born on June 11, 2003, in the serene town of Golden, British Columbia, Matthew's journey on this earth came to a tender close on April 27, 2026, at the age of 22. Matthew was a man of grit and craftsmanship, a true artisan of life who embraced every moment with passion and vigor. From a young age, it was clear that Matthew possessed a unique talent for fabrication and a deep love for all things automotive. He found immense joy in the hum of a welder and the satisfying click of a wrench on a Dodge pickup, always ensuring that each task was executed with precision and integrity. Beyond his mechanical prowess, Matthew was a soul of many curiosities. He cherished the tranquility of the waters in Tofino, where he often embarked on fishing adventures, soaking in the beauty of the natural world. His fascination with the cosmos led him to spend countless nights beneath the vast canopy of stars, his telescope a window to the universe's mysteries. A patient grower with a green thumb, Matthew nurtured rare plants with the same care he bestowed upon his friendships. He was a lover of good music, finding solace and inspiration in melodies that resonated with his heart. Ever the dreamer, he was a builder of big plans, always envisioning a future where his creations would stand as a testament to his ingenuity. Matthew's independent spirit and mechanical brilliance were matched only by his unwavering commitment to his principles. He lived life on his own terms, a testament to his authenticity and strength of character. Matthew is survived by his loving parents, Erin and Cam Dawes, and his cherished sister, Katelyn Dawes. Their hearts, though heavy with loss, are filled with gratitude for the years they shared with such an extraordinary son and brother. A service to celebrate Matthew's life will be held on April 27, 2026, at 6:48 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, located at 14611 Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton, AB T6V 1H4. Family, friends, and all those touched by Matthew's life are invited to join in honoring his memory. As we remember Matthew, let us take a moment to look up at the stars, as he often did, and stand firm in the beliefs that guide us. May his legacy of craftsmanship, curiosity, and unwavering spirit continue to inspire us all. In loving memory of Matthew Dawes, may you rest in peace and eternal light.
