Matthew Cox, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood, SC. Born on August 16, 1984, in Greenwood, Matthew was the cherished son of Diana Cox and the late Warren Cox. His wit, humor, and generous spirit touched all who knew him, leaving a lasting legacy of warmth and joy. Matthew's journey through life was marked by a passion for learning and an adventurous spirit. He graduated from Greenville Technical College in 2018, a testament to his dedication and perseverance. His career began in automotive manufacturing, where he honed his skills and developed a strong work ethic. In the last three years, he found his calling in sales within the utilities industry at Itron, where he was respected and admired by colleagues and clients alike. An active member of the First Baptist Church in Greenwood, Matthew was a man of faith, drawing strength and inspiration from his community. He was known for his heart for others, always willing to lend a hand or share a kind word. His deep love for his family was evident in his relationships with his mother, Diana, and his sisters, Anna Lauren and Ashton Cox. Though predeceased by his father, Warren Cox, and grandmother, Charlotte Beaufort Dent, their memories were kept alive through Matthew's stories and tributes. Beyond his professional and familial ties, Matthew found joy in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid golfer, a skilled poker player, and a devoted pet owner to his beloved dog, Charlotte. His love for travel was most prominently displayed in his frequent trips to Las Vegas, where he felt truly alive amidst the vibrant energy of the city. The Mirage, in particular, held a special place in his heart, as it was there that he formed countless friendships and experienced some of his happiest moments. Matthew's life will be celebrated at a service on September 12, 2026, at 3:00 PM, held at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Matthew's memory to a charity of your choice. Though Matthew's time with us was shorter than anyone wished, his impact was profound. His quick wit, sense of humor, and zest for life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we gather to honor and celebrate his life, we hold onto the precious memories and the love he shared with us all.
