With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Matthew Baker Lujan, who left us on April 17, 2026, at the age of 37. Born on December 4, 1988, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matthew was a cherished son, father, brother, grandson, and friend, who touched the lives of all who knew him. Matthew passed away at Lovelace Hospital after a brave ten-day battle, surrounded by the love and presence of his family and friends. His courage and resilience during those final days reflected the strength and spirit he carried throughout his life. Matthew was the beloved son of Michelle Baker Tolentino and Henry Lujan, and stepson to Lawrence Tolentino and Shawna. He was a devoted father to his son Alejandro and a proud grandfather to his grandson Alejandro Jr. Matthew shared his life and love with his girlfriend, Ruby Morales Pino, and was a treasured brother to Henry, Brandon, and Angelo Lujan. Preceding him in death were his grandfather Danny Baker, uncle John John Milligan, and niece Kallistina Lujan. Matthew's spirit of love and kindness lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. A proud alumnus of Highland High School, Matthew was known for his passion for football, wearing the number 88 with pride. Sundays were filled with excitement and camaraderie as he, his father, and brothers cheered for their beloved Dallas Cowboys, creating cherished memories that will be recounted with laughter and love. Matthew had a gentle and caring nature, exemplified by his unwavering support for his mother during her battle with cancer. He was her rock, a testament to his loving and compassionate spirit. A service to honor and celebrate Matthew's life will be held on April 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, located at 1100 Coal Ave SE. A funeral mass will follow on April 30, 2026, at 9:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier, 820 Broadway Blvd SE, with a procession through the family neighborhood leading to the burial service at 12:30 PM at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd SE. Reception to take place back at St Francis Xavier Catholic church The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all of Matthew's friends and family who have offered support and assistance during this difficult time, helping to create a beautiful service that truly honors his life. Matthew Baker Lujan will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the love he shared with everyone around him. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
