Matilde Marzullo

May 30, 1930 — June 6, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Matilde Marzullo, a beloved matriarch, cherished friend, and beacon of love and strength, on June 6, 2026, at the age of 96. Matilde was born on May 30, 1930, in the picturesque landscapes of Italy, a place that would shape her indomitable spirit and nurturing soul. Matilde was the devoted wife of the late Felice Marzullo, with whom she shared 55 beautiful years of marriage. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and unwavering commitment, marked by shared dreams and a profound bond that influenced everyone around them. In Italy, Matilde honed her skills as a seamstress, a craft that she carried with her when she immigrated to the United States. Upon settling in Newark, NJ, she continued to weave her magic at Macy's for 14 years. Her work was more than a job; it was an extension of her creativity and dedication to excellence. Matilde was the proud and loving mother of Vera Coiro and Louis Marzullo, whose lives she enriched with her endless love and guidance. As a grandmother to Steven, Joseph, and Michele, and a great-grandmother to Andrew and Nicholas, she found immense joy in the laughter and warmth of her expanding family. Her home was always open, her table always set, and her heart always full. Known for her incredible culinary skills, Matilde found pure joy in preparing meals for her family. Her kitchen was a sanctuary where love was the main ingredient, and every dish told a story of heritage and affection. Her garden was another of her passions, where she nurtured life with the same care and tenderness she offered to all who knew her. Matilde's life was a tapestry of selflessness, generosity, and unwavering faith. She was the embodiment of kindness and resilience, always placing the needs of others above her own. Her warm and loving nature left an indelible mark on everyone she met, and her nurturing spirit was a source of comfort and strength for her family. Her life was a symphony of compassion and grace, a testament to the power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived. Matilde will be remembered not only for her remarkable qualities as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother but also for her unwavering faith and the kindness she extended to all. In honoring Matilde's legacy, let us remember her as she lived—strong, loving, and full of grace. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come, a lasting tribute to a life that was both rich and meaningful. A private service will be held to celebrate Matilde's life, where family and close friends will gather to honor her memory and the incredible legacy she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Matilde's memory to a charity close to her heart, reflecting her spirit of generosity and love. Though she is no longer with us, Matilde's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Felice, and may her memory be a blessing to all.
