August 28, 1925 — June 1, 2026

It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Marylin McGowan, who departed this world on June 1, 2026, at the venerable age of 100. Marylin left us gracefully, surrounded by the love of her cherished family, a testament to a life beautifully lived. Marylin was born on August 28, 1925, in the comfort of her family home on County Road 580. From her earliest days, she exhibited a warmth and kindness that endeared her to everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her parents, Layfeild, instilled in her values of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family, qualities that she carried with her throughout her long and fruitful life. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Scott McGowan, who remains in our hearts, and her dear sister, Virginia Williamson, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved them. Marylin is survived by her devoted son, Jason Williamson, whose love and care were a constant in her life. She is also survived by her loving grandson, Edward Williamson, and two precious grandchildren whose laughter and joy brought light into her days. Marylin's legacy extends even further to her great-grandchildren, who will grow up with stories of her gentle spirit and enduring love. A service to honor and celebrate Marylin's remarkable life will be held on June 5, 2026, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Friends and family are invited to gather at the service location to pay their respects and share in the memories of a truly extraordinary woman. In lieu of flowers, the family has chosen not to designate a specific charitable organization for donations. Instead, they encourage those wishing to honor Marylin's memory to share kindness and compassion in their communities, reflecting the values she so dearly embodied. As we say goodbye to Marylin, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives, her unwavering love, and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. Her spirit will live on in the stories we share and the memories we cherish. Marylin McGowan's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and resilience. While she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
