January 10, 1947 — March 14, 2026

MaryAnn Schlotter, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, in the comforting presence of her family after a long illness. Born on January 10, 1947, in Peekskill, New York, MaryAnn was the cherished daughter of Camillo and Augusta Bondatti. Throughout her life, she embodied grace, resilience, and a profound love for her family and community. MaryAnn's early years were spent in Peekskill, where she graduated from Our Lady of Assumption High School. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for learning led her to Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vermont, where she furthered her education and cultivated lifelong friendships. In 1966, MaryAnn married George William Schlotter Sr., and together they nurtured and raised four sons, sharing 27 years of marriage. Although their paths eventually diverged, MaryAnn and George remained steadfast friends, united by the love for their children. MaryAnn's career was as multi-faceted as her character. She dedicated many years to the Cambridge Central School District, where she nurtured young minds as a bus driver and teacher's aide. However, it was her remarkable talent as a seamstress that truly defined her professional life. With her own business, MaryAnn's Alterations, she became a highly sought-after artisan, known for her impeccable dressmaking and repair skills. Her mother's legacy lived on through her nimble fingers, creating beautiful garments that brought joy to many. After relocating to Pinehurst, North Carolina, MaryAnn joined Brides Etc. as their in-house seamstress, where she worked alongside dear friends for 15 fulfilling years. Her contributions to the world of fashion were celebrated by all who had the privilege of wearing her creations. MaryAnn was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and actively participated in the Moore County Republican Women, championing causes close to her heart. Her faith and community involvement were pillars of strength throughout her life. Travel was another passion that enriched MaryAnn’s life, allowing her to explore the beauty of Italy, France, Portugal, and Spain, as well as various wonders across the United States. Yet, her greatest joy was found in the company of her family, whether sharing laughter at gatherings or cherishing quiet moments together. MaryAnn's warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind her sons, Matthew Schlotter (Mary) of Enumclaw, WA, Greg Schlotter (Alison) of Casper, WY, and John Schlotter of NY; her treasured grandson, Max Schlotter of Albany, NY; her loving sisters, Linda Midla (Larry) of FL and Carol Bogdanowitz (Val) of TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister Dolores Zimmerman, her brother Camillo Bondatti Jr., and her beloved son, George William Schlotter Jr., whose memories she cherished deeply. A private ceremony will honor MaryAnn's life, reflecting her wishes to keep such moments intimate. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in MaryAnn's memory to the Dementia Society of America, a cause that holds special significance to them. Donations can be made at Dementia Society of America. MaryAnn's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated nurses at Edgewood Meadow Winds for the compassionate care they provided during her final days.
