Mary Wright

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Mary Wright, beloved matriarch, cherished friend, and devoted community member. Mary was gently called to rest on September 22, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on February 17, 1942, in Chester, South Carolina, she was the treasured daughter of the late Betty and James Wright. Mary's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. Her childhood in Chester was filled with joy and laughter, growing up alongside her parents and her beloved uncle, Ronnie Kennedy, who predeceased her. She carried the warmth of those early years with her throughout her life, embodying the values of kindness and compassion instilled by her family. Mary was the cherished wife of the late Bennie Wright, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rich in love and family, creating a nurturing home for their children: George Wright (Barbara Wright) of Monroe, NC; Rosa Wright of Charlotte, NC; and Charles Wright (Lisa Wright) of Monroe, NC. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her later years. Mary was not only a dedicated family woman but also a pillar of her community. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Her love extended beyond her family, as she was always ready with a helping hand, a comforting word, or a welcoming smile. A celebration of Mary Wright’s life will take place on September 28, 2026, at 2:30 PM, at 1006 Old Richburg Road, Chester, SC 29706. Family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing Mary are invited to join in honoring her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Mary’s lifelong commitment to helping others. Mary will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she touched, her life a beacon of hope and love.
