Her journey came to a close after a courageous battle with several health issues, ultimately passing away following back surgery, a testament to her enduring strength and determination.
Mary's spirit will forever be carried in the hearts of her beloved children Tracey and Jeff Schoonmaker, Terri Keenan, Viki Bartram, and Jeff Brunner, who were the center of her world. Her love extended to her siblings, Robert and Nancy Howald, with whom she shared countless cherished memories. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Jeffrey Schoonmaker and Cassie Matthews, Jake and Susan Schoonmaker, Amanda Keenan and Craig Swanson, Jesse Keenan, Tracey and Kyle Yonkers, Lea Dyer and Luc Drew, Devin Dyer, and her nine great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and joy she spread throughout her life.
Mary was a vibrant spirit, known for her playful shenanigans and zest for fun. Her warmth and generosity were unmatched; she was always ready to lend a helping hand or a comforting shoulder. Her home was a haven of happiness where laughter echoed in every corner, and she made sure everyone around her felt the warmth of her love. Even in her later years, despite her struggles, Mary remained a steadfast pillar of support, always prioritizing the happiness and togetherness of her family and friends.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Long Lake Park Pavilion, located at 13747 Krauskopf Rd NE, Sparta, MI 49345. It will be a day to honor her memory, share stories, and remember the love and light she brought into our lives. The family looks forward to hearing the many fun stories and memories that friends and loved ones hold dear.
