With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mary Tolliver, a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Mary was born on May 15, 1960, in Montgomery, Alabama, and peacefully departed this world on February 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her journey was one marked by unwavering strength, grace, and an indomitable spirit that inspired all those around her. Mary was the beloved daughter of Henry and Lillie Tolliver, who instilled in her the values of kindness and perseverance that she carried throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Jasmine Tolliver. One brother Henry(Minnie)Tolliver Jr and One Sister Veronica Bell. Also her three dear nephews, Torey Bell,Henry Tolliver III and Ryan Tolliver. Leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience that continues to touch the lives of her family and friends. A proud graduate of Calhoun High School, Mary furthered her education at Alabama State College, where she majored in education, a field in which she would dedicate her life. Her 40-year tenure at the Lowndes County Board of Education was a testament to her commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, as she became a mentor and guide to many. Mary was a devoted member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she participated actively, finding solace and strength in her faith and fellowship. Her contributions to the church community were numerous, and she was beloved for her warm smile, compassionate nature, and unwavering faith. She leaves behind her loving family, including her one surviving child and a grandchild who brought immense joy to her life. The legacy she leaves is one of love, dedication, and service to others. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on February 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shown support and kindness during this difficult time. Your presence is a testament to the profound impact Mary had on the lives of those around her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to cancer research, honoring Mary’s brave battle and her hope for a cure that will spare others from the same struggle.
