Mary Theresa Hermanson

Mary Theresa Hermanson, born on September 30, 1952, in the charming town of Sonora, California, peacefully passed away on September 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Her life was a testament to joy, adventure, and love, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and laughter. Mary was the beloved daughter of Robert and Verna Garcia, who instilled in her a love for life and compassion for others. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, John Hermanson, her parents, and her brother, Vinny (Vincent). Mary and John were married on June 9, 2009, and shared nine beautiful years together, filled with travels, winery visits, and explorations of national parks and monuments. She was a cherished mother to her children, Jenny (Bart) and Jessi (Ryan), and a proud grandmother to eight adoring grandchildren. Her brothers, Tommy and Doug (Debbie), survive her, continuing the family bonds that meant so much to her. Mary's formative years were spent in Groveland, California, where she attended school and began to cultivate her unique personality marked by wit, a warm smile, and a little spice. Her career in the casino industry took her from Reno, Nevada, to the Diamond Jo Casino in North Iowa, where she found joy and fulfillment working with people and sharing her vibrant energy. Mary's friends and family remember her as a woman who was loved by many for her humor and compassion. Her presence brought light and joy to all who knew her. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on November 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Scareville Bar in Scarville, Iowa. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of St. Croix Hospice and Mills Harbor for their exceptional care and support during her final days. Her spirit of generosity and love will live on in the many lives she touched.
