With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Ruth Ford, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world on July 9, 2026, at the age of 79. Mary was born on June 7, 1947, in the vibrant city of Baltimore, Maryland, where she spent her formative years and built a life filled with love, resilience, and purpose.
Mary was a proud graduate of the Baltimore public school system, an education that laid the foundation for her dedicated career as a federal employee. Over her 20-year tenure, she was known not only for her professionalism and commitment but also for the kindness and warmth she extended to all her colleagues.
On May 5, 1978, Mary married her cherished partner, Jane Smith. Together, they created a home that was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and unity. Their partnership was a testament to the power of true companionship, marked by mutual respect and a shared vision for their family's future.
Mary was predeceased by her two sons, Curtis and Michael Ford, whose memories she held close to her heart every day. She is survived by her son, Curtis Ford, and her loving daughter-in-law, Angela Thomas, who, along with her grandson Miles Thomas, continue to carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her family was the center of her universe, and she took immense pride in her five grandchildren and cherished her role as a great-grandmother to one precious great-grandchild.
Mary’s life was a tapestry of love, woven with threads of family gatherings, shared meals, and heartfelt conversations. Her home was always open, a place where friends and family alike felt welcomed and valued. Her infectious laughter and generous spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
In honoring Mary's memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization close to her heart. This foundation, based in New York, NY, continues to advance impactful research that Mary deeply believed in.
As we say goodbye to Mary, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit, strength, and love will remain with us always, guiding us through the days ahead. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rest in peace, dear Mary. Your legacy of love will live on in our hearts forever.
