Mary Plate

October 30, 1990 — July 15, 2026

Mary Plate, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away on July 15, 2026, at the age of 35, in a place that truly made her spirit soar—amidst the clouds, while skydiving. Born on October 30, 1990, in Washington, Missouri, Mary was the cherished daughter of Marge and Art Baker. Her life, though brief, was filled with enormous joy, love, and adventure. Mary grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where she graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School. With a passion for dental health, she pursued an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene from Forest Park Community College. Mary dedicated over four decades to her career, practicing dental hygiene with unwavering commitment and kindness, always eager to bring a smile to her patients' faces even if she jokingly claimed never to have mastered it. In 2009, Mary married the love of her life, Al Plate. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure, raising their beautiful daughter, Megan, and nurturing countless fur babies. Mary cherished her role as a mother and was incredibly proud when Megan married Clint Metzger, welcoming him into their family with open arms and a full heart. Mary was a woman of many interests and talents. She found peace in the gentle rustling of leaves and the vibrant blooms of her garden. An avid fisherwoman, she reveled in the tranquility of nature, casting her line with patience and joy. Her love for reading transported her to worlds beyond imagination, where she found solace and inspiration. Throughout her life, Mary was guided by a deep love for animals, shared with her loyal companions—Gabrielle, Mathilda, Maggie, Road, and Desi—who predeceased her and whom she missed dearly. Their memory lived on in her heart, and she found comfort in the company of her surviving family. Mary will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her boundless generosity, and her unwavering zest for life. Her adventurous spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to soar in the hearts of those she touched. A private ceremony will be held to honor her memory, allowing her family to celebrate her life in a personal and intimate way. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mary's memory to a local animal shelter or a charity of your choice, reflecting her love for animals and her desire to support those in need. Mary Plate's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in peace, embraced by the skies she adored.
