She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 69 years, Kenneth Norwood, who stood by her side through the many trials and triumphs of life. Together, they built a loving family, nurturing their children with unwavering dedication and creating a home filled with laughter and warmth.
Mary's life was a testament to her enduring spirit and boundless generosity. As a mother, she guided her daughters Carrol Winnick and Jan Zoellner, both of Leavenworth, and sons Randy Norwood of Hutchinson, Kansas; David Norwood of Leavenworth; Joe Norwood of Topeka, Kansas; and Rod Norwood of Texas, with love and wisdom. Her family extended through her cherished daughters-in-law, Lori Foster Norwood, and Kim, Kathy, Laura, and Lori Norwood, who became integral parts of Mary's life.
A dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary took immense pride in her 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring love she nurtured and shared.
Mary's professional journey was marked by her heartfelt service in the St. Casmir kitchen, where she delighted in serving lunch to students, infusing each meal with a touch of her love. Her dedication extended beyond her professional life as she became an active member of St. Casmir Church. Mary's commitment to her community was evident through her involvement in the altar society, where she tirelessly worked to ensure families were supported in times of need.
Mary's quick wit and selfless nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a woman who instinctively took care of others, always offering a helping hand or a comforting word to those in need. Her hobbies revolved around attending the myriad sporting events of her five sons, a testament to her unwavering support and dedication to her family.
The life of Mary Norwood will be celebrated on July 2, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Casmir Church, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and the remarkable life she led.
