It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Nell Fellmy, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Mary peacefully departed this world on June 19, 2026, with the love of her life, her husband Michael, holding her hand, just as they had held each other’s hearts through 24 beautiful years of marriage. Born on April 3, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, Mary was the cherished daughter of Fred and Rose Groves. Her upbringing was rich with love, laughter, and the warmth of a close-knit family. Mary graduated from Fairdale High School, and she carried the lessons and friendships from those years throughout her life. Mary was a woman of remarkable strength and unwavering kindness. For over 30 years, she dedicated herself as a small business owner, cleaning homes and businesses. Her work was more than just a job; it was an extension of her generous spirit, always giving, always meticulous, and always with a warm smile. Her love for her family was boundless, and she was undoubtedly their greatest cheerleader. Whether it was attending her children's and grandchildren's events or simply sharing a quiet moment at home, Mary’s presence was a constant source of encouragement and joy. Her infectious smile and nurturing heart left a mark on everyone she met. Mary had a zest for life that was evident in her many interests. She loved playing Bunco and was known to be quite the competitor in her day. The beach was her sanctuary, a place where she found peace and happiness, often surrounded by her favorite people – her family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Fred and Rose Groves, and her dear sister, Bonnie Mullins. Her legacy continues through her devoted husband, Michael Fellmy; her cherished children, Bradford Thurman (Tanya), Travis Fellmy, Danielle Augustus (Hadee), and Jamie Augustus; her brother, Paul (Freddy) Groves (Betty); her sisters, Margaret Cizauskas (Paul), Remona Yates (Tommy), and Roberta Ballew (David). Mary was also the proud grandmother of Madison Thurman, Blake Thurman, and Trey Fellmy, who will forever hold her memory close in their hearts. Additionally, Mary leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends who have become family. Mary’s life will be celebrated on July 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at the Vine Grove Christian Church, located at 302 Brown Street, Vine Grove, KY 40175. The family invites all who knew and loved Mary to join in a celebration of her life, followed by a meal, where stories will be shared, laughter will echo, and Mary’s spirit will be felt by all. Mary Nell Fellmy was a fierce yet kind soul, always ready to defend her loved ones while lending a helping hand to strangers in need. Her culinary skills were legendary, and her meals were a testament to her love and care. She embodied the essence of compassion and warmth, and her legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she has left this earthly realm, Mary’s light will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind. Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. May Mary’s memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
