Mary Medeiros

March 26, 1944 — May 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Medeiros on May 12, 2026, at her cherished home in Amarillo, Texas. Born on March 26, 1944, in California, Mary was a beacon of warmth, humor, and goodwill, loved deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harley Medeiros, with whom she shared a life full of love and laughter following their marriage on August 21, 1976. Together, they built a foundation of joy and resilience. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Anthony Estrada, whose memory she held close to her heart. A devoted and loving matriarch, Mary leaves behind her two daughters, Tammy Haley and her husband James, and Michelle Clausen and her husband Fred. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to many. Her extended family of nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends will forever remember her with fondness and gratitude. Mary's life was a tapestry of varied and vibrant experiences. Educated through high school, she took on many roles with enthusiasm and dedication. She often described herself as a "Jill of all trades, master of none," though those who knew her would disagree, seeing mastery in her every endeavor. Whether sewing intricate costumes for schools and plays, preparing meals as a cook at an elementary school, or repairing engines as a small engine mechanic, Mary's skill and tenacity were evident. Her love for horses was another defining thread of her life. Her horses graced several Rose Bowl parades and even pulled a carriage at a presidential inauguration. Beyond her professional life, Mary was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her humor was quick, her wit ever-present, and she was always ready with a joke to share. She relished the chance to travel, loved to sew, and found immense joy in activities with her horses. It was not uncommon for her to playfully aggravate Harley, adding a dash of fun to their enduring love. In this time of mourning, her family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their kind words, support, and assistance. As we remember Mary, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and an unwavering spirit that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her legacy is woven into the fabric of her family and friends, reminding us all to live with love, laughter, and a touch of mischief.
