Mary Margaret Moore Wellbrock, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on April 7, 1947, in Cleveland, Texas, Mary was the cherished daughter of Reginal and Martha Moore. Mary's early years were spent in Needville, Texas, where she graduated from Needville High School in 1965. Driven by a passion for education and a love for children, she pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University, graduating in 1971. Her career as an educator spanned several school districts, including Onalaska ISD, Goodrich ISD, Navasota ISD, and Brenham ISD. Mary also dedicated many years to teaching Adult ESL and GED classes in Brenham, touching countless lives with her patience and dedication. Before she devoted herself to teaching, Mary worked in the Oil and Gas Industry from 1978 to 1982 for Tenneco and Gold King Production Company in Houston, Texas. Her career was marked by her commitment to excellence and her ability to inspire those around her. Mary was first married to Kenneth Little on May 24, 1968, and together they welcomed two children, Kevin and Margaret. After Kenneth's passing, Mary found love again and married Leonard Martin Wellbrock on April 3, 1982. With Leonard, Mary embraced a blended family, welcoming stepchildren Kimberly, Tracy, and Leonard (Bubba) Wellbrock into her heart and life. Family was the cornerstone of Mary's life. She found immense joy in the company of her children, Margaret (Michael) Alexander, and Kimberly (Mark) Schwartz, along with her grandchildren: Payton Alexander, Hayley Marx, Hannah Bentke, Heather Chernosky, Chanler Shofner, and Heston Havel. Her legacy extends through her great-grandchildren: Braxton and Barron Shofner, Holden Havel, and Renley Chernosky, who will carry forward her spirit and love. Mary's life was a testament to the joy of simple pleasures. She loved watching her children and grandchildren show cattle, spending countless hours traveling to cattle shows across the country. Her adventurous spirit also led her on vacations to destinations such as Hawaii, Wyoming, Florida, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and the Grand Canyon, creating treasured memories with her loved ones. A woman of deep faith, Mary was baptized at Needville Baptist Church in Needville, Texas, at the age of 7. She later became a devoted member of Salem Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas, where she found a community of faith and friendship. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Reginal and Martha (Hatcher) Moore; in-laws, Martin and Elenora Wellbrock; stepson, Leonard (Bubba) Wellbrock; son, Kevin Little; and sisters, Janice Caballero and Wanda Emmons. She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Martin Wellbrock, who stood by her side through life's many chapters. Mary will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Her legacy is one of love, perseverance, and a life well-lived. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with those who passed before her and that her spirit will forever be a guiding light in their lives. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, Brenham, Texas, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Mary's memory, as a testament to her generous and loving spirit.
