Mary Louise Harris

Mary Louise Harris, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home on August 25, 2026. Born on July 10, 1932, in Ennis, Texas, Mary was the cherished daughter of Charles C. Johnson and Zenobia Lewis. Her life was a testament to her enduring faith, her love for family, and her dedication to community. Mary was predeceased by her beloved parents, Charles and Zenobia, five of her sisters—Lula McClay, Marjorie Hall, Bernice Becker, Shirley Moosbrugger, and Iona Fay Smith—and her only son, Carl Isby. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Johnny Harris Jr., with whom she shared a deep and abiding love. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and faith. Mary was a loving mother to her children: Andelle "Terry" McMillan, Pamela Thomas, LaJonda Harris, and Kenneth J. Harris. Her legacy of love continues through her eight grandchildren—Robyn, Larry, Quincy, Dirk, Prince, Shafirah, Kennetria, and Alexis, her 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Mary's life was enriched by her two surviving sisters, Gladys Jackson and Louise Williams, who stood by her side throughout her journey. Her early years were spent working alongside her mother at a fish cannery, instilling in her a strong work ethic. She later became a dedicated Packer at Pogen's Family Bakery, where her colleagues appreciated her warmth and commitment. Faith was the cornerstone of Mary's life. After relocating to Las Vegas, NV, she became a devoted member of Unity Baptist Church for over 20 years. There, she served as a deaconess and was actively involved in the Sewing Circle. Her spiritual journey continued at More Than Conquerors Ministry, where she was honored as Mother of the Church. Mary was known for her positivity, strong spirituality, and kind demeanor. Always impeccably dressed, she was ready to offer a prayer or a comforting word to anyone in need. Her culinary talents were legendary, with her baked goods gracing many a church function and family gathering. A talented seamstress, Mary found joy in sewing, baking, and crocheting, especially when creating baby blankets for her grandchildren and expecting friends. Her hands were never idle, and her heart was always full of love. A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on September 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Unity Baptist Church, 543 Marion Dr., Las Vegas, NV.
