Mary Louise, affectionately known as Moma Louise, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on April 13, 1931, in the warm embrace of Darlington, SC, she was the cherished daughter of Albert and Sallie B. Sparks. From her roots in this close-knit community, she grew into a beacon of love and compassion, touching countless lives with her selfless spirit. Mary Louise was a devoted wife to the late Ret. MSGT Leverne H. Martin, whose memory she lovingly upheld after his passing. Together, they built a life rich in love and family, raising six children who were the center of her world. Her legacy of love extended to an expansive family tree, with 14 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 65 great-great-grandchildren, and four great-great-great-grandchildren, making a remarkable total of 133 living descendants. Her family was her pride and joy, each member carrying forward a piece of her indomitable spirit. Her life's work revolved around her roles as a wife, mother, and homemaker, where she found her greatest fulfillment. Mary Louise had an open heart and was always ready to care for anyone in need. Her kindness and warmth earned her the loving moniker "Moma Louise," a testament to the countless lives she touched with her nurturing presence. A pillar of her community, Mary Louise was an active member of New Life In Christ, where she found fellowship and shared her faith with others. Her commitment to her beliefs and her community was unwavering, and she served as an example of steadfast devotion and love. Mary Louise's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Morrell Senior Center of Hartsville, SC, for the compassionate and loving care they provided during her final days. A celebration of Mary Louise's extraordinary life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 12:00 PM at New Providence UMC, located at 4445 Hoffmyer Rd. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived, honoring a woman who gave so much of herself to those around her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Mary Louise's giving spirit.
