Her life, a tapestry woven with grace, kindness, and unwavering love, began on July 21, 1943, in the quaint town of Claud, Alabama. Born to Robert and Elsie Dunson, Mary grew up enveloped in the warmth of a close-knit family, guided by the values of compassion and resilience. Mary was a woman of profound faith and unyielding love, traits that defined her journey through life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Cox, with whom she shared a partnership filled with enduring love and joyous memories. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, a testament to their unwavering bond. Mary's parents, Robert and Elsie, preceded her in passing, along with her brothers Myron, Winston, James, Alvin, and Roland. Though their absence left a void, Mary carried their memories with her, honoring them through her actions and the love she extended to her own family. A devoted mother, Mary is survived by her three daughters, Elicia Willis, Rachel Perez, and Marybeth Wyatt, who each carry forward her legacy of strength and compassion. Her brother, George Dunson, remains a pillar of support and fond memories. Mary's family was her greatest treasure. Her heart swelled with pride for her nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring legacy she leaves behind. Her home was a sanctuary for family gatherings, where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and love was abundant. In accordance with her wishes, a Celebration will be held to honor Mary's life and legacy. The family finds solace in the belief that although she was bound in life to a wheel chair, in heaven she dancing and rejoicing and takes comfort in the thought of her joyous reunion as she runs into the arms of her beloved Gene. And kneels at the feet of Jesus Christ her King! Mary Lois Dunson Cox was a beacon of light, her life a testament to love, faith, and family. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind. In our hearts, we carry her love, her laughter, and her wisdom, cherishing the memories of a life beautifully lived.
