With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mary Lee Richardson, who departed this world on May 28, 2026, at the age of 54. Mary passed away peacefully at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Arkansas, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Born on January 29, 1972, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Mary was the cherished daughter of Florine Austin and Willie Richardson. From her earliest days, Mary exuded a warmth and openness that drew people to her, creating bonds that would last a lifetime. She grew up surrounded by the nurturing love of her family and the vibrant spirit of her community, which instilled in her a deep sense of compassion and service to others.
Mary's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and service. Her journey was marked by a commitment to family, friends, and community. She was a pillar of strength and a beacon of hope, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. Her compassion extended beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of many through her selfless acts and unwavering dedication.
Mary is preceded in her journey to eternal rest by cherished family members who have gone before her: her maternal grandparents, Rutha M. Howell and Tom Austin Sr., her uncle, Tom Austin Jr., her aunt, Cora L. Hawthorne, and her cousins, LeeAndrew Jives and Anthony Rouse. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who remain, and we find solace in the thought of their joyful reunion.
In sorrow, we also find gratitude for those she leaves behind, who continue to celebrate her life and legacy: her devoted mother, Florine Austin of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, her brother, Jerry L. Richardson of Duncanville, Texas, and her sister, Betty L. Thompson and her husband Phillip of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Mary is also survived by a loving host of family members and dear friends, each of whom she touched with her gentle spirit and generous heart.
In accordance with Mary's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing those closest to her to remember her in a personal and intimate setting. Although her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she impacted and the love she so freely gave.
As we say goodbye to Mary, let us remember her not with tears of sorrow but with hearts full of gratitude for the time we shared with her. Let us honor her memory by embodying the same kindness, love, and generosity that she so effortlessly shared with the world.
