It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved Mary L. White, affectionately known as Mae Diggs, who peacefully departed this world on June 6, 2026. Mae was born on September 3, 1948, in the serene town of Clayton, Alabama, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Henry Diggs, Sr. Throughout her life, Mae personified grace and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Mae was united in holy matrimony with David Cal White, a blessed union that brought forth three wonderful children. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love extended beyond her own family, as she warmly opened her heart and home to numerous foster children in Barbour County, who came to know her as a guiding light and loving figure. Her dedication to her family and community was unparalleled, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who knew her. A proud graduate of T.V. McCoo High School in Eufaula, Alabama, Mae further pursued her passion for beauty and creativity by obtaining a degree in cosmetology in Chicago, Illinois. Her career at Southern Plastics and Wear Well was marked by diligence and commitment, where she was respected and admired by her colleagues for her work ethic and positive spirit. Mae was predeceased by her beloved parents and a host of dear aunts and uncles, who have surely welcomed her with open arms into the afterlife. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Ms. Angela White of Tampa, FL, Mr. Eric (Bridgett) White of Rex, GA, Mrs. Latonji (Danny Jacobs) White of Union City, GA, Ms. Lashanda Burden of Eufaula, AL, and Ms. Wendy White of Clayton, AL. Mae also shared a special bond with her goddaughter, Mrs. Cassandra Hutchings, and lovingly embraced several foster children as her own. Mae's legacy lives on through her nine cherished grandchildren and seven adoring great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her values of love, kindness, and resilience. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, watching over them with the same warmth and love she bestowed upon them in life. In accordance with her family's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate Mae's life and legacy. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in their sorrow and offered their support during this time of mourning. In the words of Mae's family, "I am at rest, so don't cry. It will be easier as time goes by. I've done my best to live a good life, for I knew if I did, I could be with Christ. As my body lies here, it is only a shell. God has called me home, and my job I've done well." Mae L. White will be remembered for her unwavering love, her selfless devotion to those around her, and her unwavering faith. Her spirit will continue to guide and uplift us, and her love will remain etched in our hearts forever. May she rest in eternal peace.
