Mary L White (Mae Diggs)

Mary L. White, affectionately known as Mae, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on September 3, 1948, in the close-knit community of Clayton, Alabama, Mae was a beacon of love and steadfastness to all who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Henry Diggs, Sr., who nurtured her with unwavering love and guidance. Mae met and married the love of her life, David Cal White, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of marriage marked by love, laughter, and commitment. Together, they were blessed with three wonderful children: Ms. Angela White of Tampa, FL; Mr. Eric (Bridgett) White of Rex, GA; and Mrs. Latonji (Danny Jacobs) White of Union City, GA. Mae’s family was her pride and joy, and her unwavering devotion to them was evident in every aspect of her life. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family. Mae opened her heart and home to several foster children in Barbour County, providing them with love and stability. Her family tree blossomed with nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her days. Mae’s dedication to her family was matched by her commitment to her work and passion for learning. After graduating from T.V. McCoo High School in Eufaula, AL, she pursued a degree in cosmetology in Chicago, IL, where she honed her skills and creativity. She later applied her strong work ethic and loyalty at Southern Plastics and Wear Well, where she made lasting contributions and friendships over the years. Throughout her life, Mae was surrounded by a loving extended family, including Ms. Lashanda Burden of Eufaula, AL, Ms. Wendy White of Clayton, AL, her dear goddaughter Mrs. Cassandra Hutchings, and a host of cherished foster children. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Henry Diggs, Sr., and a host of aunts and uncles precede her in death, now welcoming her into their eternal embrace. As Mae’s family grieves the profound loss of a remarkable woman, they take solace in the memories of her boundless love, her infectious laughter, and the warmth she shared with everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. In a heartfelt message from her family, they share: "I am at rest, so don't cry. It will be easier as time goes by. I've done my best to live a good life For I knew if I did, I could be with Christ. As my body lies here, it is only a shell. God has called me home and my job I've done well." Mae’s life will be celebrated in a private ceremony, honoring her wishes and reflecting the deep personal connections she held dear. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will forever inspire those who knew her, and her memory will remain a cherished light in their hearts.
