MARY KENNEDY

February 27, 1938 — June 29, 2026

Mary Kennedy, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on February 27, 1938, in Petersburg, Virginia, to William and Annie R. Bowls. Mary departed this world surrounded by love in a hospital, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering faith. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 30 years, Robert Kennedy, as well as her parents, sister, and brother. She found immense joy and pride in her family, who will continue to cherish her memory: her daughters Gayle Hise, Sharon Wilson, Angela Green (Quinton), Gwen, and Debbie; her siblings Shirley and Pushie; her 13 grandchildren—Shawna, Ronnie, Tracie, Deon, Ramon, Brian, Whitney, Angie, Mercedes, Ken, Portia, Jerea, and Javnta; and her five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her boundless happiness. For 30 years, Mary dedicated herself to her work as a cook, bringing nourishment and warmth to those she served. Her professional life was marked by her devotion and tireless work ethic. Outside of her career, Mary was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord was well-known and admired by all who knew her. Her faith was a guiding light in her life and a source of strength for those around her. Mary had a passion for crafting, finding joy in creating beautiful things with her hands. This love for crafting extended to her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless hours of laughter and learning. Her family will always remember her gentle spirit, infectious smile, and the warmth she radiated. A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on July 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 723 West Springton St. This will be a time for family and friends to gather, remember, and honor the extraordinary life Mary led. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Pomona Valley Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to their beloved mother during her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mary's memory to Fellowship Baptist Church, reflecting her enduring faith and commitment to her community. Mary Kennedy's legacy is one of love, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
