February 2, 1942 — October 24, 2026
Mary Kathryn Bjorklund, affectionately known as “Kathy”, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathy was born on Monday, February 2, 1942, in Los Angeles, CA, to the late John S. Cook and Eileen Mae Moxley Cook. Kathy brought light and laughter into the world with her vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm for life. She shared an extraordinary 62-year marriage with her devoted husband, Bruce Bjorklund. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and adventure. Professionally, Kathy was an accomplished executive assistant, specializing in Industrial Technology. Her career was marked by her exceptional organizational skills and her unwavering dedication to helping others. Even in her personal life, she was known for her meticulous nature, often jokingly referred to as someone who would have all the checks, balances, and records in perfect order upon reaching heaven. Kathy's zest for life was evident in her love for shopping—often indulging in the fun of returning items just for the experience. She was always on the move, full of energy, and eager to assist anyone in need. Her family fondly remembers their travels together, which they lovingly referred to as "Griswold family style" adventures in their trusty station wagon. These memories are cherished stories of love, laughter, and togetherness. Kathy's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the joy found in family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Kathy is also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Paul Celentano.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Bruce Bjorklund; children, Kirstin Celentano, Bradley Bjorklund (Jamie), nd Erik Bjorklund (Devon); beloved grandchildren, Dominic, Allyson, Abrey, Roger, and Annika, who were her pride and joy, each holding a very special place in her heart; also left to cherish her memory are her special friends in Mundelein, IL, who were touched by her kindness and vibrant personality.
In accordance with her wishes, Kathy will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later time.
The Bjorklund family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Assisting Hands Caregiver Group and Agape Hospice Care for their compassionate support and care during Kathy’s final days.
