Mary Katherine Neubauer

January 7, 1937 — July 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Katherine Neubauer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, on July 4, 2026, at the age of 89. Mary was born on January 7, 1937, in Uvalde, Texas, to Richard Sr. and Mabel Evans, who preceded her in death. Mary embarked on a remarkable journey that touched many lives. Growing up in Uvalde, she graduated from Uvalde High School in 1955. In pursuit of knowledge and a passion for justice, she later earned a Paralegal Associate's degree in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2000. Her career as a legal secretary and later as a paralegal was distinguished by her dedication to the law and her unwavering commitment to advocating for children in court proceedings in Kentucky and Florida. Mary also co-authored a State of Kentucky legal reference book, leaving a lasting legacy in the legal community. On March 13, 1965, Mary married Jacob Daniel Neubauer III in Louisville, Kentucky. Their marriage of 58 years was a testament to their love and devotion, during which they raised five wonderful children and created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Mary leaves behind her devoted daughter Julie, sons Randy, Rick, Jake, and Josh, and her cherished grandchildren Leah, Marybeth, Megan, Taylor, Sam, Tucker, and Hayes, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren Madison, Charly, and Annie. Mary's family was the center of her world, and she delighted in celebrating birthdays and holidays with them. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to include her brother, Richard Jr. Evans, and his wife, Jimmy Ruth, nephew Richard III Evans, and niece Lee Marie Lee. Her dear friends, Darla Stefero, Jo Nunley, and Carole Smith, will forever remember her warmth and friendship. As a military wife, Mary embraced new experiences, including a love for travel that took her to Canada, Europe, and Japan. She was an active member of her bridge club, and her hobbies included embroidery, needlepoint, crocheting, and playing the piano. Her leadership qualities shone through her role as HOA president at her condominium in Siesta Key, Florida, where she made everyone feel welcome and valued. Mary's warm, friendly, and welcoming smile endeared her to many. Her sociable nature and grounded wisdom touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Dell Seton Medical Center and Hospice Austin RNCM Lillie for their compassionate and attentive care of Mary. She will be "Forever in our hearts." A memorial service to honor and celebrate Mary's life will be held on July 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Brookdale Westlake Hills, located at 1034 Liberty Park Drive, Austin, TX 78746. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mary's memory to a charity of your choice, to continue her legacy of helping others.
