With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Jo May, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on August 22, 2026, at her son's home after a courageous six-month battle. Born on May 10, 1938, in Osceola, Arkansas, Mary Jo was a beacon of love and kindness, whose light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her. Mary Jo was the cherished daughter of Edward Charles and Verna Jo Hampton, who preceded her in death, along with her devoted husband, Billy Glenn May, whom she married on June 19, 1959. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, marked by shared dreams and a commitment to family. A graduate of Holland High School in Holland, Missouri, Mary Jo pursued a career as a medical secretary at Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was known for her dedication and compassion, offering not only her professional skills but also her empathy and kindness to colleagues and patients alike. After her marriage, Mary Jo dedicated her life to her family, channeling her nurturing spirit into creating a loving home and providing unwavering support to those she held dear. Mary Jo was an avid crafter, whose creativity knew no bounds. Her hands brought to life exquisite works of art through tole painting, 3D art, and various types of needlework. Her creations were more than just art; they were expressions of her vibrant soul and her love for those around her. Survived by her sister, Toni Rose Hampton, her two children, William Rondal May and Alisa Lynn Jackson, three adoring grandchildren, and a precious great-granddaughter, Mary Jo leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion. Her family was her greatest joy, and she found immense pride and fulfillment in their achievements and happiness. Mary Jo possessed a unique gift for spreading love and compassion, touching the lives of everyone she met. Her gentle spirit and warm smile were a source of comfort and joy, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. A service to celebrate Mary Jo's life will be held on August 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Forest Hill East, located on Whitten Road. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life so beautifully lived. Visitation from 9 AM - 10AM. In honor of Mary Jo's memory, her family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to her enduring spirit of generosity and care for others.
