Mary Jean Ladd

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Mary Jean Ladd on June 9, 2026, at the age of 72. Mary departed this world peacefully at her home in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, cradled by the love and support of her cherished family. Born on June 25, 1953, in Russellville, Arkansas, to James "Jim" Minor and Emma Jean Minor, Mary was a beacon of grace and kindness throughout her life. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her brother James G. Minor, and her devoted husband of 49 years, Jim Ladd Jr., with whom she built a beautiful life and family in Tonkawa. Mary is survived by her loving sister, Martha (Minor) Cocklin of Wichita, Kansas; her devoted son, Jeff Ladd, and his wife Sonia of Spring, Texas; and her beloved daughter, Stacy (Ladd) Bahn of Springfield, Missouri. She was the proud grandmother to four treasured grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and she leaves behind two nieces who adored her deeply. To all of them, she was the heart and soul of the family, their cherished matriarch whose love and wisdom will continue to guide them. A graduate of Tonkawa High School, Mary dedicated 36 years to her career as the Public Relations/Communications Coordinator for Ponca City Public Schools. Her professionalism and passion for fostering community connections left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of working with her. A devout and active member of the Christian Life Church in Tonkawa, Mary spent many joyful years in the music ministry, sharing her melodious talents and unyielding faith with her congregation. Her love for arts and crafts was renowned, as was her culinary prowess, which she lovingly shared with family and friends during countless gatherings filled with laughter and warmth. Mary's beauty radiated from the inside out, and her compassionate spirit was always eager to help those in need. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will forever inspire those who knew her. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on June 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Christian Life Church, located at 205 Thunderbird Rd, Tonkawa, OK 74653. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone for the calls, visits, and prayers during this time of reflection and remembrance. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mary’s memory be made to the Christian Life Church’s music ministry, a cause dear to her heart. Mary Jean Ladd’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication. Her spirit will remain a guiding light for her family and all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones in the comforting embrace of her Creator.
