Mary Jean Flinoil
July 12, 1954 — August 21, 2026
Mary Jean Flinoil, a beloved member of the Conway community, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 72 years old, surrounded by the love of her family, with her devoted niece Nell by her side.
Born on July 12, 1954, in Magnolia, Arkansas, Mary was the cherished daughter of Greener and Willie B. McDanial. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Thil Flinoil, whom she married in 2008. Together, they shared 16 beautiful years before his passing in 2024. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Kavester Rabb, Donald Ray McDanial, and Charles Ray Rabb.
Mary's life was a tapestry of love, faith, and service. She graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1972 and pursued further education at Delta Career College. Her career began as a bus driver for the Little Rock School District, where she became a beloved figure to many children, thanks to her warm heart and the "good snacks" she provided. It was during her time delivering school buses cross-country that she met Thil, the love of her life.
Mary was deeply devoted to her faith, having been called to God at an early age. She was ordained as a pastor with the CME church, serving faithfully for over 40 years. At the time of her passing, she was a minister at her local congregation, where she was known for her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to her community.
Her love language was food, and she delighted in preparing incredible meals for anyone who visited. Friends and family fondly remember her as a nurturing soul, always ready to lend a helping hand. Known affectionately as Mama Jean or Mama Mary, she played a pivotal role in raising not only a multitude of nieces and nephews but also countless other children in her community.
Mary is survived by her adoring family members Lenelle, Boobie, Da'One, Shay, Latisha, Lakeisha, Clay, Calvin, CeCe, and Samie, along with a plethora of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear friend Miss Sue, who shared in many of her life's moments.
A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. James CME Church, located at 1304 Markham Street, Conway, Arkansas 72032. The family wishes to thank everyone who supported Mary throughout her life and during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
