Mary Jane peacefully departed this life on May 17, 2026, at the age of 71, at her home in Mooresville, Indiana, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, following a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Born on May 1, 1955, in Lafayette, Indiana, Mary Jane was the cherished daughter of Robert and Margaret Leath. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and her beloved sister, Phyllis Shelton. Her legacy of kindness and unwavering love is carried on by her devoted husband of 45 years, Hugh Jay Huff, and their cherished son, Anthony Finley. She also leaves behind two adored grandchildren, Logan and Madison Finley, who were the light of her life. Mary Jane shared a remarkable 45-year marriage with her husband Jay, a union built on love, respect, and shared dreams. Together, they nurtured a family business and delighted in the art of restoring antique furniture, a passion that reflected their shared appreciation for history and beauty. A proud graduate of Lafayette Jeff High School, Mary Jane’s life was filled with a myriad of interests that showcased her vibrant spirit. She found joy and tranquility in the great outdoors, whether she was boating, fishing, camping, or golfing. Her love for music and dancing brought endless joy to those around her, and her artistic talents were evident in her drawings and paintings. A lively card game with friends and family was often the highlight of her week, as her laughter and zest for life were truly infectious. Mary Jane was a beacon of kindness and generosity, always quick with a joke to lift spirits and fill any room with laughter. Her loyalty and love knew no bounds, and she valued every moment spent with her family and friends. Her sisters, Julia Bowling, Dena Borton, Jackie Oakes, and Theresa Crosley, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family, will forever cherish the memories of her warmth and grace. In honoring Mary Jane’s remarkable life, her family plans to hold a celebration of life at a later date, allowing all who were touched by her love to gather and remember the joyous moments shared.
