Mary Isabella Hillebrand Merz

Mary Isabella Hillebrand Merz, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026. Born on June 13, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, Mary lived a life enriched by love, creativity, and devotion to her family. Mary lived a full and meaningful life. Mary was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, building furniture and painting. She was a very talented artist and friends and family are fortunate to have paintings in their homes. Her artwork remains a lasting reminder of her creativity and the beauty she brought into the world. Mary's family was her greatest joy and pride. She leaves behind her seven children: Chris, Paul (Toni), Michael (Wendy), David (Sandy), Denise, Betsy (John), and Kathryn. Her nurturing spirit and wisdom also blessed her with 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her heart. Mary was preceded in death by her loving parents, Vincent and Isabella Hillebrand, her siblings Frank Hillebrand, Connie Aligada, and Colette Duggan, as well as her beloved grandchildren Brian Merz and Kurtis Laitinen. Though her presence will be profoundly missed, Mary’s legacy of love and creativity endures. Her family invites those who wish to honor her memory to donate to a charity of their choice, reflecting Mary's generous and compassionate spirit. Mary Isabella Hillebrand Merz will forever be remembered for her kindness, her artistic soul, and the unconditional love she bestowed upon her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
