Mary Irene, a cherished matriarch and beloved member of her community, passed away on August 13, 2026, at the age of 74. Born in Austin, Texas, on July 11, 1952, Mary was the cherished daughter of Nicasio and Esperanza Garcia. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. For three decades, Mary shared a loving marriage with her devoted husband, Juan G. Olivo. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising their four children in a home that was always warm and welcoming. Mary was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Mary was an active member of Templo La Hermosa church, where she found joy and purpose in serving her community and strengthening her spiritual life. Her faith was a guiding force, inspiring all who knew her with her grace and compassion. With a gift for crochet, sewing, and baking, Mary filled her home with beauty and comfort. Her kitchen was the heart of family gatherings, where she was known to “cook for an army.” If family was expected, a big pot of menudo or another delicious dish was always ready to greet them, a testament to her boundless generosity and her love for those she cherished. Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Juan, her four children, her siblings, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love and compassion continues through them, as they carry forward the values she instilled in them. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on August 18, 2026, at 7:00 PM at 3825 Bosque Blvd, Waco, TX 76710. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers to OakCrest Funeral Home. The service and viewing will be held at the aforementioned address. Mary’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support and love during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to be made in Mary’s memory to a charity of your choice, honoring her generous spirit and dedication to helping others. Mary Irene will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
