Mary Frances (Brock) Acker
October 20, 1939 — August 9, 2026
Mary Frances (Brock) Acker, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, in a local hospital in Rome, Georgia. Born on October 20, 1939, in her cherished hometown of Rome, Mary was the daughter of Eddie Lee Brock and Vivian Lnez Brock. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the nurturing of all those around her.
Mary was preceded in death by her sons, Timothy Acker, Michael Acker Sr., and her grandson, Michael Acker Jr. Her legacy, however, continues to shine through her surviving son, Eric Acker, and her devoted sisters, Reba Allen and Rena Nichols. Her family tree extends further with the blessing of one grandchild and three great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the many stories and lessons she imparted.
For over 30 years, Mary was the devoted wife of Edsel Acker. Together, they built a life filled with warmth, laughter, and shared dreams. Her marriage to Edsel was a cornerstone of her life, providing a foundation of love and support for their family.
Mary had a passion for reading that was as boundless as her love for life itself. With her nose often buried in a thrilling murder mystery, she traversed countless worlds and adventures, filling her days with excitement and wonder. Mary also possessed a magical green thumb; her garden was a sanctuary of beauty, brimming with vibrant flowers and flourishing plants. Her care for her garden mirrored the love and attention she gave to her family, nurturing both with dedication and tenderness.
Those who knew Mary will remember her for her profound wisdom, nurturing spirit, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her family and friends were blessed by her generous heart and the unwavering support she offered in times of need. Her presence was a beacon of comfort and love, creating a legacy that will be deeply cherished.
A service to honor Mary's remarkable life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, located at 2542 Shorter Ave. The family graciously requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of choice, a testament to Mary's generous spirit and her desire to help others.
