Mary F. Brown, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on December 20, 1948, in Sheldon, South Carolina, Mary was the cherished daughter of Beatrice and John Brown. She was the youngest of four siblings and was predeceased by her older brothers and sisters, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories. Mary is survived by her devoted sister and her son, Alfanco Brown, who was the light of her life. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and a great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward her spirit and strength in their hearts. Mary dedicated her professional life to caring for others, working as a nurse where her compassion and dedication left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her career; she became a cornerstone of her community, serving at the Polo Ground Towers Community for over 20 years. Mary was also a cherished member of the Eastern Star for two decades, where she formed bonds and friendships that lasted a lifetime. Mary's love for life was infectious, and she relished her time spent with the Bingo ladies at the Polo Ground Senior Center. Her passion for going to the casino was well-known, and it was those moments of joy and excitement that truly captured her zest for life. In loving memory of our one-of-a-kind Grandma, we remember her as a woman who never sugarcoated anything, whose personality was as strong as her favorite Pepsi. She had a look that could stop anyone in their tracks and a quick wit that kept life interesting. While she may not have been everyone's cup of tea, she was undoubtedly ours. Grandma Mary had an unparalleled ability to tell it like it was, offering her unfiltered thoughts on everything from fashion to cooking. But behind that tough exterior was a heart that loved fiercely and unconditionally. Her love was evident in the meals she prepared, the sacrifices she made, and the wisdom she imparted to her family. She leaves behind a treasure trove of stories and life lessons that will be shared at every family gathering, with her spirit ever-present in our laughter and tears.
