Mary F. Armentrout January 11, 1947 – May 17, 2026 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary F. Armentrout, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary left this world on May 17, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of her home in Kingsport, TN, at the age of 79. Her life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and the enduring power of love. Born on January 11, 1947, in Grafton, WV, Mary was the daughter of the late George and Mary V. Ball. As a young woman, she embarked on a journey that would take her to Windham, OH, where she graduated from Windham High School. She had a dedicated career with Delphi Packard Electric, a division of General Motors, where she contributed her talents and skills for many years. Mary's life was blessed with a loving family, including her late husband, Rodney Armentrout, with whom she shared 56 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they created a loving home and welcomed two wonderful children, Scott (Sheila) Armentrout and Amy (Robert) Proffitt. Her grandchildren, George and William Armentrout, and Garrett and Emily Proffitt, were the lights of her life, bringing her immense joy and purpose. Mary found endless delight in spending time with them, cherishing every moment and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Those who knew Mary will remember her as a woman with a generous spirit, always eager to give and share with others. She had a knack for finding joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was shopping or hunting for unique items to add to her beloved collections. Her heart was open to all, and her warmth, kindness and humor touched everyone she met. Mary is survived by her children and grandchildren, her brother George W. Ball, and her sister Betty J. Maguire. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Rodney, and now finds eternal peace in their embrace. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mary’s exceptional caregivers, Tammy, Hallie, Tonya, and Dee, whose loving care made her final days as bright and comfortable as possible. Their compassion and dedication will always be remembered with deep appreciation. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mary's memory to Smile Foster Closet, at smilefostercloset.org, as children in need held a special place in her heart. Mary F. Armentrout’s life was a testament to love, faith, and generosity. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her. As we bid her farewell, we celebrate a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved. May she rest in eternal peace.
