Born on September 6, 1964, in Augusta, Mary was a beacon of warmth and joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Author and Catherine Gibson. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, DeVante Alvin Gibson, and her brothers, Jimmy Gibson and Author Gibson Jr. Her legacy of love and kindness endures through her life partner of 28 years, Ronnie Smith, with whom she shared an incredible journey full of love and companionship. A proud alumna of Lucy C. Laney High School, Mary went on to dedicate 26 years of her life to Shapiro (FPL), where she was not only a diligent worker but a friend and confidante to her colleagues. Her work was marked by dedication and a genuine care for those around her. Mary possessed a zest for life that was evident in her many passions. She found joy in singing and dancing, expressing her creativity through drawing, and she was an avid fan of cooking shows, which inspired her delicious baking creations. Above all, Mary cherished her time spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew her. Known for her warm hugs and bright smile, Mary had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved. It was not uncommon to hear her express her affection with a heartfelt "I love you," ensuring that everyone left her presence with a sense of warmth and belonging. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Charlie Reid, located at 314 Laney Walker, Augusta, GA 30901. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring the remarkable life of a woman whose spirit touched the hearts of so many. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Mary's memory may make a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
