Mary Elizabeth Reed

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth "Woogie" Reed, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Born June 16, 1944, in Frankfort, Kentucky, Mary departed this life on October 6, 2026. Her life was a testament to courage, love, and resilience. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Jr. and Helen Taylor, devoted husband, Allen Louis Reed, with whom she shared many years filled with love and adventure, and children, Donna Reed Murphy (Carl), Allen "Pete" Reed, and Rodney "Toot" Reed. Mary's journey on this earth was marked by her profound love and commitment to her family. Mary leaves to mourn her son, William Patrick Reed Sr., six grandchildren: Monica Murphy Porter (Chase), William Patrick Reed Jr., Renee Reed, Carla Murphy, Lakan Hunter (Alex), and Kirsten Reed, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. Mary's presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her. Mary was not only defined by her family but also by her compassion for others. Courageously, she battled dementia with the same strength and grace that she demonstrated throughout her life. Her warmth and generosity extended beyond her family, touching the lives of many friends and members of her community. Mary's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the memories and stories shared. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will be cherished by all who had the honor of knowing her.
