Mary Elizabeth Pfost Brannon

Mary Elizabeth Pfost Brannon, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, after a short illness. Born on September 13, 1935, in Charleston, WV, Mary was the cherished daughter of Jewell and Margaret Pfost. A dedicated educator, Mary graduated from West Virginia State College with a Master's Degree in Special Education. Her passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career of over 40 years in Kanawha County, where she touched countless lives as a Home Economics teacher at Washington Junior High, Spring Hill Junior High, and Andrew Jackson Junior High. Mary found her true calling in the Resource Program at Nitro High, where she devoted her skills and compassion to Special Needs students. Mary's life was rich with creativity and joy. She loved tending her vibrant flower garden, painting, sewing, and decorating her home with care and warmth. An animal lover at heart, Mary cherished her pets, which included everything from ferrets, cats, birds, and dogs to the occasional raccoon named Rocky and even a rabbit. Her home was always full of life and laughter. Mary's view of the world was one of optimism and love. She famously saw everything and everyone through rose-colored glasses, and she often shared how wonderful she felt her life was. Her kindness, beauty, and fun spirit were a source of inspiration for all who knew her. Mary is survived by her spouse, Tom Juzwik and his daughter Stacey; her children Kathy (Scott) Barr, Margaret Williams, and Julie Brannon; her grandchildren Nicholas Barr, Andrew (Emily) Barr, Tommy (Meredith) Pasinetti, and Terri Wiblen; and her great-grandchildren Davin, Elizabeth, Blaine, Brooklyn, and Ryder. She also leaves behind her siblings John (Rose) Pfost and Susi Franco. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Margaret Pfost, her son-in-law Tony Williams, and her ex-husband Larry Brannon. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary's life on September 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Tyler Mountain Memory Garden, located at 5233 Rocky Fork Rd, Cross Lanes, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association, a cause dear to Mary's heart. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to WVU Medicine Thomas Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care provided, especially by Ebony, and to Jill (Carrier) Taylor for taking such good care of Mary. Mary Elizabeth Pfost Brannon will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
