Mary Elizabeth Gomez

January 26, 1937 — June 17, 2025

Mary Elizabeth Gomez, a cherished soul who graced this world with her warmth and infectious joy, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at Amber Lights Assisted Living, enveloped in the love of her devoted family. Born on January 26, 1937, in the picturesque town of Leadville, Colorado, Mary was a beacon of light and happiness to all who knew her. Mary was the beloved daughter of Vern Schroeder and Margaret Brannan, who instilled in her the values of kindness and resilience. She was predeceased by her dear parents, her brothers Thomas and Sunny (Vern) Schroeder, her sisters Alice Schroeder, Shirley Bolin, and Dolores Billips, as well as her beloved daughter Tracy Gomez. Despite these profound losses, Mary found strength in her surviving family: her devoted husband, Vernon Gomez, who would join her in eternal rest on May 21, 2026; her loving daughter, Madonna Felix; her son, Mark Gomez; her cherished grandson, Jason Felix and his wife Alicia; and her delightful great-grandson, Stryker, with whom she shared many joyful moments. She is also survived by her brother Charles Schroeder, who shared in the rich tapestry of their family history. On October 9, 1955, Mary married the love of her life, Vernon Gomez, embarking on a shared journey filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. Together, they raised a family, with Mary dedicating her time to nurturing their home while also working part-time as a food service employee at Amphi School. Her commitment to her family and work was unwavering, and she found immense joy in balancing her roles with grace and dignity. Mary's life was a vibrant dance of passions. She delighted in fishing, feeling the tranquility of nature envelop her as she cast her line. Dancing was her expression of joy, a reflection of her ever-happy spirit, always ready to embrace life with a smile. Her adventurous soul found peace and excitement traveling in her motorhome, exploring new places, and creating memories along the way. However, her greatest joy was playing with her great-grandson, Stryker, whose laughter filled her days with boundless happiness. Mary's legacy is defined by her ever-present happiness and her readiness to embrace the good times. Her family, friends, and all who crossed her path remember her as a woman who lived life to its fullest, embracing every moment with open arms and a joyful heart. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amber Lights Assisted Living, Catalina Hospice, and the privately hired caregivers for their compassionate care and support during Mary's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Mary's spirit of giving and kindness. Mary Elizabeth Gomez's life was a testament to love, laughter, and the enduring bonds of family. She leaves behind a legacy of joy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever dancing among the stars.
