Mary Eileen Poling, born on December 9, 1948, in Bethesda, Maryland, departed this life unexpectedly on August 26, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship and family.
Eileen was the beloved daughter of James F. Ashcraft Sr. and Eleanor Dewitt Ashcraft, whom preceded her in death. Her life was filled with adventure and exploration, having traveled extensively across the United States, Europe, and even lived in Guam, thanks to her status as a naval dependent. Despite her many moves, she found she could truly call Leesburg Georgia, home where she planted roots.
A proud graduate of Albany High School in 1967, Eileen first embarked on her professional journey at Bell South, working during and after her high school years. Her career path eventually led her to retail sales, where she flourished, establishing deep connections with colleagues and customers alike.
Eileen was a cherished member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she found a community of family. Her church family was an integral part of her life, and she was treasured by all who shared in the fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Poling, and her sisters, Cynthia Hill and Dianne Brookins. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of her surviving family members, including her daughters, Sherry Tarvainis Love (Buddy) and Wendy Tarvainis Hanshaw (Don). Her legacy continues through her three grandchildren, Jonathan Bennett, Kelsie Giles, and Joey Love, and three great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.She is survived by 2 sisters, Martha Hill, Rockhill SC, Lynne Busby, Albany Ga. and brother James Ashcraft ( Pat) Leesburg, Ga.
A celebration of Eileen's life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM -6:00 PM at the home of Lynne Busby, located at 6024 James Drive, Albany, GA 31705. In remembrance of her, donations may be made to The Leesburg Humane Society or Friendship Baptist Church, reflecting Eileen's enduring love for animals and her cherished church family.
Eileen's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her, and live in the hearts of those she loved so dearly.
