Mary, born on October 13, 1964, in the charming city of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. Born to Regina C. Gagnon and Francis J. Gavin Sr., Mary was a beacon of warmth and kindness whose smile could light up any room.
Mary shared a beautiful life with her husband, Michael J. Vota, with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage. Together, they created a loving family, including their son, Michael J. Vota Jr., and daughter, Trisha J. Vota. Mary's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Lucas M. Cifelli and Lilliana M. Cifelli, who were the apples of her eye. She also leaves behind her devoted brothers and sisters, who shared countless joyous moments with her.
A proud graduate of Cranston High School East, Mary furthered her education by training to become a medical assistant, a field where her compassion and dedication shined bright. Throughout her career, she made lasting impressions at Sommerville Lumber, the RIde Program/RIPTA, and Atwood Medical.
Mary's life was rich with friendships and creativity. She found immense joy in the company of friends and delighted in crafting with her sisters and grandchildren, leaving behind treasured memories and handmade keepsakes. Her giant heart extended to everyone she encountered, always prioritizing the happiness and well-being of her family and friends.
A service celebrating Mary's remarkable life will be held on August 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Winnfield & Sons, located at 571 W Greenville Rd., Scituate, RI. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the beautiful life she led and the love she shared.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mary’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and love for helping others. Mary will forever be remembered for her radiant smile, her loving heart, and the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
